Mrs. Krzesinski's Second Grade Classroom

Wow!  Can you believe we are off and running with a new school year already?   We’re doing great as we settle back into the routine of school.  I have a feeling we’re going to have a great year!

I am in the process of assessing the children in math, reading and written language. We have begun our unit on ”Bears”.  We’ll be doing “beary” exciting activities.  We are trying to earn a Teddy Bear Picnic for good behavior.

PE is on Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has the proper shoes for the Family Life Center.  I would strongly encourage keeping a pair of PE shoes at school so that you do not need to carry them to school every Tuesday and Thursday.  Mrs. Schempp has a basket for each primary grade in which to store their shoes.

Art is on Thursday.  Our art teacher is Mrs. Schenk.

Our first spelling test will be Thursday. We took a pretest today. If your child had a perfect paper, he/she will bring home a different short list of bonus words on Monday for our Thursday test.  Remember that the sentence is part of the test.

Memory work is recited each Wednesday morning. Your child needs to know the assigned memory selection before he/she arrives at school in the morning.

Please return the Friday envelopes each Monday morning. Processing all of the envelopes together saves a lot of time and helps to keep information from getting lost.

Homework folders are ready to go and we will begin using them on Monday. The folder will come home each evening (M-Th) whether your child has homework or not. Any incomplete work in the folder should be completed and returned in the morning. ALL folders need to be returned EACH morning. The homework folder will be sent home on Friday only if your child has work to finish. It is your child’s responsibility to get the folder back and forth from school.

I’m looking forward to meeting with you at our PTL open house on Monday night, August 18th.

I believe your child’s education should be a team effort. Please feel free to contact me if you have concerns or praise.  Feel free to call me at home before 9:30 p.m.  (But I am often at school until fairly late so you may try to reach me there instead), or you may e-mail me at krzesinski@hopelutheran.org.

Thank you for the opportunity to share the love of Jesus with your precious children.

Homework

Remember to check homework folders daily.  Please initial it on the date they bring it home, even if you don't mark it until the next morning.
(Please do not sign on that mornings' date - you could not have checked the material for that day before it even came home.)
