Memory

November 4th – December 11th

November 4th

First Commandment:  You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean?  We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

November 6th

Second Commandment:  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord.

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.

November 11th

Third Commandment:  Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy.

What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.

November 13th – first two verses of “As Each Happy Christmas”

As each happy Christmas

Dawns on earth again,

Comes the holy Christ child

To the hearts of men.

Enters with His blessing

Into ev’ry home,

Guides and guards our footsteps

As we go and come.

November 18th - Third and fourth verse of “As Each Happy Christmas”

Makes us pure and precious

In His holy sight,

Granting us forgiveness

By His saving might.

All unknown, beside us

He will ever stand,

And will safely guide us

To the heav’nly land.

November 20th -Your child’s individual speaking part for the Christmas program is due.  Each child will be given this part in class.

November 25th – first two verses of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”.

Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King;

Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!”

Joyful, all ye nations rise, Join the triumph of the skies;

With the angelic host proclaim, “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

Christ, by highest heav’n adored, Christ the everlasting Lord,

Late in time behold Him come, Offspring of a virgin’s womb.

Veiled in flesh the Godhead see, Hail the incarnate Deity!

Pleased as Man with man to dwell, Jesus our Immanuel!

Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

December 2nd  -Third verse of “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”

Hail, the heav’n-born Prince of Peace!  Hail, the Sun of Righteousness!

Light and life to all He brings, Ris’n with healing in His wings.

Mild He lays His glory by, Born that man no more may die,

Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth.

Hark!  The herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King!”

December 4th – first two verses of “Joy to the World”

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!

Let earth receive her King;

Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room

And heav’n and nature sing,

And heav’n and nature sing,

And heav’n, and heav’n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!

Let men their songs employ,

While fields and floods,

rocks, hills, and plains

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat the sounding joy,

Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

December 9th – verses 3 and 4 of “Joy to the World”.

No more let sins and sorrows grow

Nor thorns infest the ground;

He comes to make His blessings flow

Far as the curse is found,

Far as the curse is found,

Far as, far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace

And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness

And wonders of His love,

And wonders of His love,

And wonders, wonders of His love.
